COLORADO ARTS CONSORTIUM
http://www.coloradoartsconsortium.org
Editor's Note:
I
have been thinking about the weather ( a moment of silence please for all those
on the east and west coasts!) but only because of the dramatic changes we
experience here in Colorado. This thread leads to thoughts of contrasts.
Anyone in Colorado long enough knows about weather contrasts. However, think
about the contrasts in art across Colorado. From the northeast high plains to
the southwest four corners, with mountain communities in between, I believe
there are unique art exhibits and performances. There are many different types
of art agencies or councils.
The
consortium's mission statement was to foster the arts across the state and
frankly that is one big mission! We are rebuilding the Regional Reps and they
are to visit you and just find out what your success story is or what help do
you need. It takes dedicated people with time to visit which is a very rare
commodity, so the mission is good but the implementation is weak.
This
newsletter was a product of an idea we could network by e-mail and I could
bring that to you in e-mail form of a newsletter. You have probably heard
this from me before, but this newsletter is more about calender of events
in Colorado than stories of success or unique difficulties that someone "
out there" may be able to answer. So much for networking.
I
will not discourage the press releases from anyone so don't worry. The other
concept is that the calender information is valuable and who knows, if you find
your self from Denver over in Durango or Cortez for a visit, you might take in
their art events. May I mention Sterling, Grand Lake, Trinidad, Grand Junction
or even here in Estes Park? I could go on but I hope you get the point.
Networking is good!
