Happy
New Year To All,
This
the first day in a year of Celebration. Our Great State of Colorado is
going to be
130
on August 1st, and so we must dance and sing throughout the year,
celebrating our heritage. It will be through the arts and humanities
and a campaign for our preservation, restoration and environment;
Colorado's great qualities for life, that
we
can celebrate, and resort to that which is most needed in a time of
uncertainty.
Colorado
has passed C and we will now wait and see, if we see any of it go to thee.
All
who work so diligently, passionately and volunteering to do that which is most
rewarding, has a year to show that we count, as individuals and organizations.
Our
State Legislature, School Boards and Municipalities now have all the data,
facts
and figures of how important the arts in education are, and we can help, by
showing
what we do, Counts.
Colorado
has the infrastructure in place throughout the State to bring this 130th
Birthday
to everyone by way of the Dance. Our Official dance is that of the Square,
that
Western Folk Dance that brings people together, and dance as one, among
another. Dance is the key to fitness, of which our State is in first
position, with
our
love of Sports, Outdoors and....... The Arts. We need to know who we are
and
how
we got here.
August
1, 1876 we became the 38th, The Centennial State. Beautiful Colorado
is
entering a year we are branded and advancing our visibility to the World.
A
time that will bring others here and there, knowing that we are given a
chance
to
show the importance of maintaining a healthy environment, opportunity to
express our arts, heritage and preservation of all that is good for the spirit,
mind and body.
I
believe that story belongs to everyone, everyplace and, this year it belongs to
Brookvale,
who shares the birthday week. The place you may know as a
potential educational arts enclave, and philanthropic
activity center for Colorado,
at
the base of Mount Evans. There is so much for every community to get
involved with and none more than your own history. Discover your pioneers
and your
families
heritage, and how we got to this 130th
year. Celebrate by involving
yourself
in advocacy, activities, and especially................... Let's Dance.

and groovin' good time, in the company of the godfather of folk music in
Denver, Harry Tuft. In the cozy environs of the Tuft Theater, the hootenanny is
set up like an open stage, with a signup sheet (sign-up starts at 7:00). It's a
chance to join in the centuries-old tradition of sharing musical ideas with
like-minded folks. An old-fashioned hootenanny is the best possible place to
learn new songs and new licks, and to hear old songs performed in entirely new
ways.

Armando
brings his European boldness and Jazz's subtlety to create a unique style and

Armando's previous CD,
Westword writes, "Zupperman is a breezy, good-timey offering that moves from
ragtime rhythms to more exploratory jams and good old-fashioned country.
Worldly and playful,
Zupperman firmly establishes its
hero as a welcome new character on the local scene."

An Evening with John McEuen | Friday, January 13, 8 p.m.
Daniels
Hall @ Swallow Hill
TXS:
$21 in advance; $24 day of show
For
this concert at Swallow Hill, John comments, "For this time at Swallow
Hill, one of my favorite venues, I will be bringing my L.A. pickin' buddy, Matt
Cartsonis. Matt is one of the finest singers I know (the only one in L.A. I
know who sings like he is from Kentucky - that high bluegrass lonesome sound),
and a funny guy with funny songs all accompanied by his hot licks on mandola
and guitar. You may have seen Matt with Warren Zevon (played with him for his
last 6 years), Austin Lounge Lizards, or the group Bryndle. He is also featured
on my newest CD, Round
Trip. And sitting in on a few
songs with us will be Warren Floyd. I can't wait!"

Wendy Woo & Nina Storey w/Rob Drabkin | Saturday, January 14, 8 p.m.
Daniels
Hall @ Swallow Hill
TXS:
$18 in advance; $21 day of show
Wendy
Woo returns to Swallow Hill along with Nina Storey for a night of powerhouse
singing and original spirited tunes. Multi-award winning and praised by The Denver Post as "a premier rock and folk
performer," Wendy has been named Best Singer/Songwriter by Westword five times, voted Best Boulder Musician by Boulder Weekly, Best Local Artist by Colorado Daily, and won the Colorado Lilith Fair Talent Search.
Recently she released her sixth CD,
Angels Laughing, a solo acoustic
album recorded live.
Known
to blend genres of music, Nina Storey writes and performs a seamless blend of
blues, rock, funk and pop into her own style. People
magazine hails, "With a voice like hers, pyrotechnics are redundant."
"Formal training and theory aside, songwriting is at heart a mysterious
process that's probably driven by as many different creative impulses as there
are composers. In the case of Nina Storey, the desire to write songs was a
natural outgrowth of her extraordinary gifts as a vocalist." -Performing Songwriter

Denver, 12/27/05 - Well known for performing with the late John Denver, singer Mack Bailey and pianist Chris Nole come to Swallow Hill on Friday, January 20th. Tom Paxton said of Mack, "In its power, clarity and shear beauty, Mack Bailey's voice reminds me of no one more than my friend, the late John Denver. I love to hear this man sing." In his home of Washington, D.C., Mack is known as "the area's most perfect tenor." An award winner, Mack has been a recipient of the Washingto
